Push Notifications

Updated August 2026 · Nabee Studio

Push notifications are short messages sent to a user's phone or browser even when your app or site is closed — a reminder, an update, an alert. They are a direct line to someone who has opted in.

Why do push notifications matter to your business?

Push is one of the few channels that reaches people without an open tab or an email inbox they ignore. Used well, it brings people back — a booking reminder, a new feature, a time-sensitive alert. Used badly, it annoys people into turning it off, so restraint matters.

At Nabee, push is built in where it genuinely helps the product, not bolted on for its own sake. The infrastructure to send it reliably is part of the build and kept working through maintenance.

A concrete example

An app like My Permit Pass can gently remind a learner to keep practicing before their test. A well-timed nudge brings someone back to finish what they started, which is exactly what push is for.

Common questions

Can a website send push notifications?
Yes, modern browsers and PWAs support web push, though native apps have deeper notification capabilities.
Do users have to opt in?
Yes. Push requires permission, so it only reaches people who have agreed to receive it.
Can push notifications hurt my product?
Overusing them drives people to disable notifications or uninstall. Nabee builds them to add value, not noise.
